The type species (holotype) of the genus Chamberlainium is Chamberlainium tumidum (Foslie) Caragnano, Foetisch, Maneveldt & Payri.

Type locality: South Africa: Western Cape Province: Mouille Point (33°53.9440'S, 18°24.5285'E) (Puckree-Padua et al. 2021: 22). Holotype: G.W.Maneveldt 16/05; 9.x.2016; epilithic on primary bedrock in mid-intertidal, sand inundated rock pool. L 3986119 (Puckree-Padua et al. 2021: 22).
