The type species (holotype) of the genus Chamberlainium is Chamberlainium tumidum (Foslie) Caragnano, Foetisch, Maneveldt & Payri.

Type locality: South Africa: Western Cape Province: Lamberts Bay (32°6.5728'S, 18°18.1270'E) (Puckree-Padua et al. 2021: 30). Holotype: G.W.Maneveldt and C.A.Puckree-Padua 15/61B; 1.x.2015; epilithic on primary bedrock in low intertidal zone. L 3986120 (Puckree-Padua et al. 2021: 30). Notes: Isotypes: UWC 15/58, UWC 15/59, uWC 15/61A.
