The type species (lectotype) of the genus Corallina is Corallina officinalis Linnaeus.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Dichotomaria obtusata (J.Ellis & Solander) Lamarck

Type locality: Bahama Is, West Indies (Huisman & Womersley 1994: 113). Notes: Huisman & Womersley (1994: 113) note that the type is lost; lectotypified by Ellis & Solander, 1786: pl. 22, fig. 2 (see Papenfuss et al., 1982).
