Holotype locality: Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province, China; (Abbott, Zhang & Xia 1991: 14) Holotype (cystocarpic): Liu Sijian and Jie Zhenying; 2 May 1988; growing on gravel and shells in the lower littoral; AST; 88-0234 (Abbott, Zhang & Xia 1991: 14, fig.1) Notes: Isotypes: AST 88-0234a (fig. 2), spermatangial; AST 88-0234b (fig. 3), tetrasporangial.
