Type locality: Rongelap Atoll, Naen Island,Marshall Islands (Taylor 1950: 91). Type: W.R. Taylor 46-591; 17 July 1946; Growing in shallow water over deep sand, on the lagoon-side reef, with very notable "root" common. MICH (Hillis-Colinvaux 1980: 101). Notes: Isotypes: Rongelap and Eniwetok, Marshall Islands (Verbruggen et al., 2005: 621).
