Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Gonodia is Gonodia pulvinata (Kützing) Nieuwland.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Elachista orbicularis (Ohta) Skinner.
Type Information
Type locality: Tappi, Aomori Prefecture, Japan; (Silva & al. 1996: 622) Type: T.O. Pr. 133 (Niigata University); (Lee 2000: 15) Notes: Lee (2000: 15) cites Aomori, Japan (growing on Ecklonia stolonifera Okamura in January) as the type locality of this species. According to Womersley (1987: 78), the type was collected by Ohta (Ohta 133) on 1 January 1970.
