Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Kallymenia is Kallymenia reniformis (Turner) J.Agardh.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Leiomenia cribrosa (Harvey) Huisman & G.W.Saunders.

Type Information
Type locality: Fremantle, Western Australia; (Womersley & Norris 1971: 5) Lectotype: TCD; 0011789 (Saunders & al. 2017: 113) Notes: This type locality was first recorded by Womersley & R.Norris (1971: 5) (Silva et al., 1996).

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), sieve-like, profusely perforated, with numerous small holes (Stearn 1973).

General Environment
This is a marine species.

Habitat
In depths of 3-40 m on moderate to rough-water coasts (Womersley 1994: 233).
