Type locality: "On the western coast of New Holland. Mr. Menzies.—In King George's Sound, on the coast of New Holland Mr. Brown." (Turner 1811-1819: 2). Lectotype: Robert Brown; BM (Womersley 1987: 386). Notes: See Womersley (1964: 78) for information on the lectotype.
Named for Robert Brown (1773-1858), British collector, botanist and microscopist.
