This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Cystophora expansa Womersley.

Type locality: Port Phillip, Victoria, Australia; (Silva & al. 1996: 644) Type: S; (Womersley 1987: 384) Notes: Womersley (1987: 384) notes that there is a probable isotype in MEL (356).

Origin of Species Name
Participle A (Latin), expanded, spread out (Stearn 1973).
