The type species (lectotype) of the genus Blossevillea is Blossevillea torulosa (R.Brown ex Turner) Decaisne.
Status of name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Cystophora expansa Womersley
Type locality: Port Phillip, Victoria, Australia (Silva & al. 1996: 644). Type: S (Womersley 1987: 384). Notes: Womersley (1987: 384) notes that there is a probable isotype in MEL (356).
Origin of species name
Participle A (Latin), expanded, spread out (Stearn 1973).
