Type locality: Vivonne Bay, Kangaroo Island, South Australia (Silva, Basson & Moe 1996: 645). Holotype: Womersley; 24 August 1963; large eulittoral pool, s. side of Ellen Point. ADU A26725 (Womersley 1987: 388). Notes: Womersley (1987: 388) notes that there are isotypes distributed in "Marine Algae of southern Australia" No. 55.
