The type species (lectotype) of the genus Blossevillea is Blossevillea torulosa (R.Brown ex Turner) Decaisne.
Status of name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Cystophora racemosa (Harvey ex Kützing) J.Agardh
Type locality: Australia (Cape Riche, Western Australia) (Silva & al. 1996: 646). Type: Harvey; MEL 598 (Womersley 1987: 378). Notes: Silva et al. (1996) recommend consulting Womersley (1964: 83) for more information on the type locality of this species. Harvey, Alg. Aust. Exsicc. 5 (Womersley (1987: 378)).
