Status of name
This name is of an entity that is currently accepted taxonomically.

Basionym
Corallina tribulus J.Ellis & Solander

Type information
Type locality: West Indies (Silva, Basson & Moe 1996: 225). Lectotype: the only known 'original material' is the protologue illustration in Ellis & Solander (1786: 124, pl. 24, fig e): (Woelkerling & Harvey 2012: 113, fig. 1). Notes: Lectotype and epitype designated by Woelkerling & Harvey (2012: 113). As no anatomical features are available for the lectotype, an epitype (MICH 10572) was designated by Woelkerling & Harvey (2012: 112). This epitype also supports the lectotype of the genus Amphiroa. Epitype collection details are: West Indies: Dieppe Bay, St. Kitts-Nevis, Leeward Islands (M. Edlund & M. Wynne, 25 September 1995).
