Lectotype locality: Rottnest Island, Western Australia (Silva & al. 1996: 795). Type: Clifton; TCD (Womersley 1984: 224). Notes: Silva et al. (1996) recommend consulting Womersley (1956: 376) for more information on the type locality of this species.
Origin of species name
Adjective (Latin), sericeous, silky with long straight close-pressed glossy hairs (Stearn 1985).
