Type locality: Punta Hughes, Isla Magdalena, Baja California, Mexico (Dawson 1953: 111). Holotype: Dawson; May 4, 1950; Growing over Hildenbrandia on a siliceous rock, intertidal. HAHF Dawson 9363c, in box 55471, including slides 1601-1603 (Dawson 1953: 111).
