Type information
Type locality: California, U.S.A. [San Pedro fide isotype in UC] (Silva & al. 1996: 271). Lectotype: W. A. Setchell 1482; TRH A2-97 (Woelkerling & al. 2005: 34). Notes: Chamberlain (1993: 107) gives the following data: Holotype: TRH, San Pedro, Los Angeles, California, USA, 5.xii.1896, Setchell 1482. Foslie slide 61; Isotype: UC Plants on part of the same stone as the holotype. Slide (UC) 1482(2). According to Woelkerling et al. (2005: 34): "A presumed isotype in UC (UC, 736372) was mistakenly termed the holotype by Steneck & Paine (1986: 237). Box
marked '(konc. lidt større end hos typen [= conceptacles somewhat larger than the type])'. Slide marked 'L. decipiens Fosl., Kalifornia [= California], leg. Setchell'. van der Merwe et al. (2015) obtained a partial rbcL sequence from the isotype (UC 736372) that is part of the same stone bearing TRH A2-97. USA: California: San Diego (INA). California (Prof. W.A.
