Syntype localities: Terre-neuve [Newfoundland]; in mari Ochotensi [Okotsk Sea]. De la Pylaie; Wosnessensky (Agardh 1852: 690). Lectotype: LD (Kylin 1924: 44). Notes: Lectotypified by Kylin (1924: 44) with a Newfoundland plant.
