Type locality: Warrnambool, Victoria (Womersley 1994: 36). Type: Womersley; 14 October 1985; lower eulittoral on the mussel Xenostrobus pulex (Lamarck) in sand, inner side of Middle I.. AD A57022 (Womersley 1994: 36).
Origin of species name
Adjective (Latin), black-purple (Stearn 1973).
