Nomenclatural notes
Tsiamis et al. (2010: 329) note that this is a nomen nudum because J. Feldmann who recognized for the first time this very distinctive Mediterranean species at Banyuls-sur-Mer never published a valid description. Anticipating a valid description based on the original material of J. Feldmann, they report the taxon from Greece because it is easily distinguishable from other Mediterranean representatives of the genus. - (29 Apr 2011) - Wendy Guiry

Habitat notes
Usually reported from rather deep sublittoral zones (19 to 32 m depth) but found by Tsiamis et al. (2010) in the upper sublittoral zone (1 m depth), on a rocky semi-exposed shore where it was epilithic on a shaded, rather vertical rocky slope, associated with Ceramium spp., Corallina elongata and Lithophyllum sp. - (29 Apr 2011) - Wendy Guiry

General environment
This is a marine species.
