Type locality: Tiparra Reef, Spencer Gulf, South Australia, Australia; (Womersley 1996: 132) Holotype: 11 m deep (epitype) Shepherd; 23 December 1970; AD; A38255 (Womersley 1996: 132) Notes: Womersley (1996:132) notes that the type specimen was recorded growing at 11 m depth.

Origin of Species Name
Adjective A (Latin), very small (Stearn 1973).

General Environment
This is a marine species.

Habitat
On Amphibolis antarctica and A. griffithii, 5-11 m deep (Reedman & Womersley (1976: 93).
