Type locality: Bohuslän, Sweden (Silva & al. 1996: 373). Type: LD herb. alg. Agardh 19087 (Yoshida 1998: 869).

resembling, or growing on or in species of the genus Furcellaria.

According to Maggs & Hommersand (1993) this species is a synonym of Aglaothamnion byssoides (Arnott ex Harvey in W. J. Hooker) L’Hardy-Halos & Rueness.
