The type species (lectotype) of the genus Amphiroa is Amphiroa tribulus (J.Ellis & Solander) J.V.Lamouroux.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Jania prolifera (J.V.Lamouroux) J.H.Kim, Guiry & H.-G.Choi.
