The type species (lectotype) of the genus Cladophoropsis is Cladophoropsis membranacea (Hofman Bang ex C.Agardh) Børgesen.
Status of name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Cladophora albida (Nees) Kutzing
Syntype localities: Julia Point and Sandy Point, Tristan da Cunha Island and ‘between North Point and Blenden Hall’, Inaccessible Island, Tristan da Cunha (Baardseth 1941: 13). Holotype: Baardseth 354; 19 February 1938; O (Leliaert & Coppejans 2006: 673). Notes: Type locality: Station 137, between North Point and Blenden Hall, Inaccessible Island, South Atlantic; Paratype: Julia Point, Tristan da Cunha, leg. Baardseth 122, station 23, 24 Dec. 1937, O (Leliaert & Coppejans, 2006: 673).
