Type locality: Braithwaite Bay, Socorro I., Revilla Gigedo Islands, Mexico; (Dawson 1962: 34) Type: 2-4 Jan 1934; Allan Hancock Foundation Herbarium; 102 (Taylor 19) (Dawson 1962: 34) Notes: Dawson (1962: 34) notes that the type specimen was in material dredged in 14-18 fms. Type (tetrasporic and cystocarpic) epiphytic on larger algae as dredged from 24-32 m at sta. 129 off Braithwaite Bay, collected by W.R. Taylor (no. 34-19) on 3 January 1934 (Taylor, 1945).
