Type locality: off Isla San Esteban, Gulf of California, Mexico (Dawson 1962: 92). Holotype: 26-27 January 1960; Herb. Beaudette Foundation (California Department of Fish and Game) E.Y. Dawson 21580 (Dawson 1962: 91). Notes: Dawson (1962: 91, 92) notes that the type material was collected from a depth of 10-36 m. and that there are isotypes located in Herb. A. Hancock Foundation and in Herb. University of California, Berkeley.
