Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Amansia is Amansia multifida J.V.Lamouroux.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Amansia rhodantha (Harvey) J.Agardh.

Palolo Deep Naturual Marine Reserve, Apia, Samoa, South Pacific; (South & Skelton 1999: 245) Holotype: Abundant all year round on dead corals and coral rubble along the rim of the deep, betweem 2 and 10 m depth.; SUVA; 1565 (South & Skelton 1999: 245) Notes: Isotypes: SUVA (USP) 1566 (spermatangial plant); SUVA (USP) 2402 (tetrasporangial plant).
