The type species (holotype) of the genus Cymatopleura is Cymatopleura solea (Brébisson) W.Smith.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Surirella clavata (O.Müller) C.Cocquyt & R.Jahn.

Type locality: Malawi: Lake Malombe, after discharge of Lake Malawi; (Cocquyt & Jahn 2014: 413) Lectotype: B; 40 0040250 (sample B 52 0000039) (Cocquyt & Jahn 2014: 413, fig. 1 D) Notes: Central Africa: Nyassaland [Malawi: Lake Malombe]; collector: Dr. Fülleborn, 3.ii.1900 (INA). The above locality is matched with the sample no. B 52 0000039 in the text but in table 1 "in the course of the River Shire" is cited for this no.
