General Environment
This is a marine species.

Habitat
At Coffs Harbour, uncommon and found only on stalks of tube worms at 5-7 m depth during the austral winter; at Lord Howe and Norfolk islands, abundant, occurs in deep water (to 34 m), and can be a large component of the turf algal flora, covering several square metres of the sides of rocky bommies (dome-shaped coral-covered reefs) and pinnacles during all seasons of the year (Millar 1998: 16).
