The type species (holotype) of the genus Crumenula is Crumenula texta Dujardin.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Lepocinclis caudata (A.M.Cunha) Pascher.

Origin of Species Name
Adjective A (Latin), caudate, i.e., ending with a tail-like appendage (Stearn 1973).
