This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Lepocinclis caudata (A.M.Cunha) Pascher.

Type locality: Manguinhos, Brazil; (Lukomska-Kowalczyk & al. 2019: 289) Type: pond; (Index Nominum Algarum) Notes: "Holotype: Cunha Da 1914, pl. 24, fig. 2. Epitype: Figure 3q designated herein that supports the holotype (Cunha Da 1914, pl. 24, fig. 2)."

Origin of Species Name
Adjective A (Latin), caudate, i.e., ending with a tail-like appendage (Stearn 1973).
