The type species (lectotype) of the genus Acrochaetium is Acrochaetium secundatum (Lyngbye) Nägeli.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Kylinia endophytica (Batters) Athanasiadis.

Type locality: Plymouth, Devon; (Dixon & Irvine 1977: 95) Lectotype: BM; Slide 7020 (Dixon & Irvine 1977: 95) Notes: England: Plymouth; Collector: G. Brebner; in cortical layer of Dasya coccinea (Index Nominum Algarum).
