Type species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Chantransia is Chantransia nigricans De Candolle.
Status of name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Audouinella hermannii (Roth) Duby

Conferva hermannii Roth
Type information
Type locality: "...legit ad rotam molendinariam in Alsatia." [Alsace, France] (Roth 1797: 180). Type: Hermann; (Index Nominum Algarum Notes: Necchi & Zucchi (1995) give the following data: Germany, Bremen near to Molendinas, L. Treviranus, B 28258 and they note that a neotype was designated by Necchi et al. (1993).
