This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Virescentia crispata (Kumano & Ratnasabapathy) Necchi, D.C.Agostinho & M.L.Vis.

Holotype locality: Sungai Ayer Besar, Pulau Tioman, Malaysia; (Ratnasabapathy & Kumano 1982: 18) Holotype: Ratnasabapathy, No. 21; 24 May 1974; Attached to submerged rock and stones, upper reaches ofstream; TNS; AL 169089 (Ratnasabapathy & Kumano 1982: 18) Notes: "Holotype" and "Isotype" specified in the protologue.

Adjective A (Latin), crisped, curled, or closely (finely) waved.
