Type locality: Mokha, Yemen (Leliaert & Coppejans 2004: 202). Holotype: C (Leliaert & Coppejans 2004: 202). Notes: Syntype localities: “Gomfodae” (Al-Qunfudhah), Saudi Arabia; Mokha, Yemen (Silva et al. 1996). Leg. P. Forsskål (Lipkin & Silva 2002).

Taxonomic notes
According to Silva et al. (1996) the name Dictyosphaeria intermedia has been misapplied to this species by Sigee (1966:70) and Tsuda & Newhouse (1966:96).

Habitat notes
In most warm seas. Lower intertidal; on dead coral; on solid substrate of coral-limestone at a depth of 1 m in well-illuminated habitats (Lipkin & Silva 2002). - (18 Jun 2010) - Wendy Guiry
