The type species (holotype) of the genus Navicula is Navicula tripunctata (O.F.Müller) Bory.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Craticula elkab (O.Müller ex O.Müller) Lange-Bertalot, Kusber & Cocquyt .
