The type species (lectotype) of the genus Anabaenopsis is Anabaenopsis elenkinii V.V.Miller.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Cylindrospermum siamense (Antarikanonda) J.R.Johansen & M.Bohunická .

Type locality: Rice field near Bangkok, Thailand; (Komárek, Zapomelova & Hindak 2010: 324) Holotype : rice field; BRNM; HY-2333 (Komárek, Zapomelova & Hindak 2010: 329, 324) Notes: Type (holotype): The strain SAG B11.82 (= CCALA 756) deposited as dry material (exsiccate), preserved in a metabolically active state; typical and reference strain: Antarikanonda 1976 (= SAG B11.82 = CCALA 756) is deposited also in a lyophylised state (under the designation "CCALA 756") in the Phycological Department, Institute of Botany ASCR, Trebon, Czech Republic. INA: Type: figs 1, 2; Thailand: Bangkok [on moist soil and paddy fields at Kastsart University].
