The type species (lectotype) of the genus Chaetomorpha is Chaetomorpha melagonium (F.Weber & D.Mohr) Kützing.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Arnoldiella chelonum (Collins) C.Boedeker.

Holotype locality: Walnut Lake, Michigan, USA; (Boedeker & al. 2012: 821) Holotype: T.L. Hankinson; on turtle carapaces; NY; 00887601 (Boedeker & al. 2012: 821) Notes: On backs of turtles, Chrysemys marginata and Aromochelys odorata (INA).
