Adjective (Latin), submerged, imbedded, covered up, immersed (Stearn 1973).

This is a marine species.
Type locality: Carraroe, Co. Galway, Ireland (Maggs & Irvine 1983: 220). Holotype: C.A. Maggs; 27 Aug 1981; about 30 plants on a razor shell. BM sine numero (Maggs & Irvine 1983: 220). Notes: Isotypes: BM, GALW.
