The type species (holotype) of the genus Enteromorpha is Enteromorpha intestinalis (Linnaeus) Nees.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Ulva compressa Linnaeus

Type information
Type locality: Swan River, Western Australia (Silva & al. 1996: 730). Notes: Silva et al. recommend consulting Womersley (1956: 353) for more information regarding the type locality of this species.

Adjective A (Latin), very tall, high (Brown 1956).
