This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pseudo-nitzschia subpacifica (Hasle) Hasle
Type locality: north west African waters (17°45'N, 16°30'W) (Hasle 1974: 427). Holotype: G.R.H.; 26 November 1959; Univ. Oslo marked specimens on IMBB slide no. 19 (Hasle 1974: 427). Notes: Isotypes: W7,77b, W7,94, B.M. 77897.
