Type locality: near Cádiz, Spain (Silva & al. 1996: 360). Lectotype: LD 25705 (Rodríguez-Prieto, Freshwater & Sánchez 2007: 146).

Adjective (Latin), creeping, prostrate and rooting (Stearn 1973).
