This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Tetradesmus lagerheimii var. biseriatus (Reinhard) Taskin & Alp.
Origin of Species Name
Participle A (Latin), acuminate, i.e. tapering gradually or abruptly from inwardly curved sides into a narrow point (Stearn 1973).
