Type locality: "On Fuci and on Rocks in the Sea. Common about the Mumbles and in ether parts of the Peninsula of Gower."; (Dillwyn 1806: pl. 81) Lectotype (Dixon & Price 1981: 138): WELT; Herb. Silvanus P.Thompson A 4502 (Dixon & Price 1981: 138) Notes: Dixon & Price (1977: 138): "Type locality: 'Common about the Mumbles and in other parts of the Peninsula of Gower' (Dillwyn, 1806, pi. 81). Lectotype: WELT, Herb. Silvanus P. Thompson A 4502, Dillwyn, Swansea, 1806."

Invalid: "Although cited as a binomial combination, Dasythamnlon along with Compsothamnion, Pleonosporium, and Eucallithamnlon, were recognized as subgenera of Callithamnion (Nägeli 1861: 328-44), and hence "Dasythamnion tetricum" is Invalid. Also in the Index (p. 415), Nägeli (l.c.) cited it as 'tetrlcum Dlllw. (Conferva, Callithamnion Ag., Call. Dasythamnlon)'." (Athanasiadis 2016: 807). - (09 February 2017) - M.D. Guiry
