This is the type species (holotype) of the genus Ectoclinium.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Mychodea australis (Zanardini) Kraft.

Syntype localities: "Ad Tasmaniam R. Gunn [Tasmania, Australia]; fragmentum e Nov. Hollandia quoque vidi'; (Agardh 1876: 575) "Holotype": R. Gunn; LD; 34115 (Kraft & Saunders 2017: 248) Notes: "Ad Tasmaniam R. Gunn.’ Type: n.v. (holotype: LD 34115 (apparently the basis for J. Agardh’s (1879) drawings (pl. 30, figs 1–8), which are mounted on sheets numbered LD34104 and LD34105 – Patrik Frödén, pers. comm.)." (Kraft & Saunders 2017: 248).
