Type locality: "Caloundra" [Queensland, Australia]; (Cribb 1960: 16) Holotype: [A.B. Cribb]; "... an open shore rocky headland. It occurs in the upper sublittoral in positions subject to submaximum wave action, forming low mats, up to 15 cm. diam., which trap considerable quantities of muddy sand."; (Cribb 1960: 16) Notes: This species has been found so far only during the winter months at Caloundra, an open shore rocky headland. It occurs in the upper sublittoral in positions subject to submaximum wave action, forming low mats, up to 15 em. diam., which trap considerable quantities of muddy sand.
