The type species (holotype) of the genus Polyporolithon is Polyporolithon conchatum (Setchell & Foslie) L.R.Mason.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Perithallis incisa (Foslie) Athanasiadis.

Type locality: near Wellington, Island Bay, North Island, New Zealand; (Woelkerling & al. 2005: 342) Lectotype (designated by Woelkerling & Harvey 1992: 382): W.A. Setchell No. 6354; June 1904; uppermost sublittoral zone, on Corallina and Amphiroa; TRH; B17-2551 (Woelkerling & al. 2005: 342) Notes: Not "Bay of Islands" as in some publications.
