Type locality: "Neuholland" ["This recently discovered seaweed, departing so much from the usual in its form, has been brought from New Holland and has been supplied by Mr D. CXIII, 1908): Notes: Epitype (designated by Nelson & al. 2023): New Zealand, South Island, Fiordland, Dusky Sound, Chalky Inlet, 14 Dec 2019, G. Keeler-May AST503 (WELT No. A034575!).
