Type locality: Yarmouth and Cromer, Norfolk, U.K. (Dixon & Irvine 1977: 184). Lectotype: BM-K An undated, unlocalised specimen labelled ‘from Mr Woodward’ selected as provisional lectotype (Dixon & Irvine 1977: 184).

Adjective (Latin), ligulate (Stearn 1973).
