Type locality: Galeta Point, Republic of Panama (Caribbean Panama) (Gurgel et al. 2004: 178). Holotype: M.E. Hay, MEH-1023; 8 September 1979; on coral rubble, sand plain off Galeta Reef platform, 13 m depth. US Alg. Coll. 29046 (Gurgel et al. 2004: 178). Notes: Isotypes: US Alg. Coll.- 29097; LAF; UC.
