The type species (type conserved) of the genus Chlamydomonas is Chlamydomonas reinhardtii P.A.Dangeard.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Dangeardinia pseudopertusa (H.Ettl) Nakada.

Moravia: Schönhengst; (Index Nominum Algarum) Holotype: Ettl (1965), fig. 96: permanently cryopreserved strain NIES-50011 (epitype) (Nakada et al. 2016: 296, table 1) Notes: Voucher specimen: Specimen TNS=AL-58918; permanent preparations of vegetative cells derived from culture strain SbCl-4 (= NIES-3703= NIES-50011); Shinobazu Pond, Uenokouen, Taitou-ku, Japan (35°43'N, 139°46'E); March 2004.
