Habitat
in ditches, rice-fields and small rivers. pH 6.2-6.3, with Chara benthamii, C. hydropitys and C. pseudo-hydropitys (Imahori 1951)
Key Characteristics
var. capitulifrea is distinguished from Nitella acuminata mainly by the decoration of the oospore-membrane, and the other characters are almost the same. (Imahori 1951).
