Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Euglena is Euglena viridis (O.F.Müller) Ehrenberg.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Lepocinclis hispidula (Eichwald) Daday.
Type Information
Type locality: [Russia?] stehendes Wasser von Kaugern (w. of Riga); (Index Nominum Algarum) Notes: "Holotype: Eichwald 1847, pl. 8, fig. 5. Epitype: Figure 3u designated herein that supports the holotype (Eichwald 1847, pl. 8, fig. 5)." (Lukomska-Kowalczyk & al. 2019). The type locality is "Russia, Moscow district" according to the latter authors.

Adjective (Latin), somewhat bristly.
